The Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy awards FATH the “Bavaria’s Best 50” prize. The Ministry thus recognizes FATH as one of Bavaria’s fastest-growing companies.
Two brothers, one machine, and many big plans
In 1989, brothers Wido and Mirko Jan Fath started their company with only a plastic injection molding machine in a barn. With the courage to internationalize early and the necessary expertise, FATH has become one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of aluminum profile system components within three decades. Today, FATH products and solutions form the backbone of manual and automated production and are used in special machine and plant engineering.
With courage and drive to become a diversified group of companies
The ability to recognize trends and the courage to consistently sieze opportunities is the basis for the strong further development of FATH in recent years. FATH initially expanded its portfolio to include products for process visualization and material supply. Industrial processes can thus be designed according to lean principles. The acquisition of the Dutch manufacturer of intralogistics automation technology, Flowsort, brought the company into the rapidly growing intralogistics automation market. Flowsort products sort parcels in distribution centers of well-known e-commerce and logistics companies worldwide. The acquisition of precision technology specialist CEMEC makes it possible to make the engineering knowledge and manufacturing precision from aerospace usable for the entire FATH Group.
The last step in growth was the establishment of FATH as a component partner of the most well-known manufacturers of solar installation systems. In the rapid growth of the solar business, FATH is meeting the high demand for components such as solar module clamps, roof hooks made of aluminum, and various plastic accessories. Because of the geopolitical conditions, the production of these parts in Germany and Europe also plays a major role. FATH once again demonstrated its entrepreneurial drive and expanded its capacities in 2023. This includes new permanent establishments in Röttenbach in central Franconia as well as in Eastern Europe.
Outlook continues to show strong growth
Thanks to its determination, strategic vision and now more than 500 employees at 12 locations, FATH has become a global player in products and solutions for industry, intralogistics automation, and customer-specific mechanical engineering components. In 2023, FATH Group sales will greatly exceed the €100 million mark. The sustainable growth of FATH was an important reason for the committee of “Bavaria’s Best 50”.
The outlook for the coming years is also clearly positive. Especially in the business area of customer-specific mechanical engineering components, FATH will continue to grow strongly with its comprehensive production technology park paired with the engineering knowledge of its subsidiary CEMEC. In the standard components business, the digitalization of business processes and the support of customers through digital services will ensure continued growth. The expansion of the technology portfolio in the intralogistics automation technology subsidiary Flowsort and its global rollout are contributing to further growth.
Shaping the future together with FATH
Without the motivated commitment of the employees, this success would not have been possible for FATH. The current shortages in the labor market are now the biggest challenge for further growth.
